Last Week
WKU hosted winless Charlotte for homecoming. The offense finally fired on all cylinders and we saw the Mike White of last year as WKU cruised to a 45–14 win over the 49ers.
Old Dominion traveled to Huntington for Marshall’s homecoming. The Monarchs played the Thundering Herd tough for a half only trailing 7–3 heading into the 3rd quarter. The second half was a completely different story as the Monarchs got outscored 28–0 in the second half losing 35–3, their fourth straight loss by 30 or more points.

Last Meeting
In a game that ultimately decided the Conference USA East Division, WKU hosted ODU on homecoming. The game was supposed to be a showdown of the defending champs and the up and coming program in the league, but the Tops made quick work of the Monarchs, jumping out to a 52–14 halftime lead. Tempers flares midway through the third quarter as a fight broke out after a run out of bounds on the ODU sideline. From that point on, the rest of the game coasted by as the Tops won 59–24.

After the slow start to the season we were finally treated to a complete performance last week that reminded us all of the high scoring Hilltopper teams of recent history. A national TV game against a reeling team will once again show the WKU faithful how far this team has come before the schedule tightens up next week against FAU. With a road win in Norfolk, the preseason expectations are still attainable and fans might finally get on board with the new regime.
This will be the first test of what sets up to be a challenging second half of the season. We’ll be providing live coverage of this match-up. If you’ve traveled all the way to Norfolk, please send us your tailgating and in-game pictures via Twitter at @TheTowelRackWKU or on our Facebook page and we’ll share.
