Arkansas fired embattled head coach Chad Morris the next day.
Southern Miss traveled to San Antonio to take on the UTSA Road Runners. After a slow first 24 minutes where they played UTSA to a draw (10–10), USM would explode for a 28–7 run the rest of the game as they racked up 493 yards of total offense in a 36–17 win moving them to 7–3 on the season.

After a 10–2 regular season, WKU would host Southern Miss in the 2015 Conference USA Championship game. After an opening drive touchdown pass from Brandon Doughty to Antwane Grant gave WKU an early lead, USM would roll score three straight touchdowns capped off by a 40-yard interception return by Kalan Reed to give the Golden Eagles a 21–7 lead midway through the second quarter. WKU would respond as Doughty would score with his legs and arm to tie it up at 21 at the half. The second half was all WKU as they would outscore USM 24–7 and D’Andre Ferby would seal the 45–28 victory with two fourth-quarter rushing touchdowns giving WKU and it’s head coach Jeff Brohm their first of two consecutive CUSA Titles.

The Arkansas win got fans back on board for the stretch run and USM is a great opportunity for a big win before rivalry week next week. WKU must one of the final two to ensure they’ll make a bowl. That in and of itself makes this a big game. Seeing if the Arkansas win can propel this team to a strong finish is intriguing as well. Tyson Helton has an opportunity to have the best debut of any Hilltopper coach in the FBS era. A win this afternoon keeps that alive and potentially propels WKU to a big season next year. Let’s hope the Tops take care of business on the road to build buzz for the 100 Miles of Hate next weekend.
