Last Week
WKU traveled to Boca Raton to take on former head coach Willie Taggart’s FAU Owls. In what turned out to be a defensive struggle both teams combined for just 530 yards of offense. After being deadlocked at 0 at the half, both teams would trade field goals to be deadlocked at 3 heading into the fourth quarter. Brayden Narveson would drill a 49-yard field goal to give WKU a 6–3 lead with 8:09 left in the fourth quarter. WKU’s defense played lights out but couldn’t come up with one last stop as FAU drove 75 yards on 12 straight running plays to take a 10–6 lead on an 11-yard run by Javion Posey. WKU’s offense went four and out on the next drive and they would lose 10–6 falling to 2–6 on the 2020 season.
Southern Miss hosted FCS North Alabama, after falling behind 13–7 in the third, the Golden Eagles would reel off 17 straight points on the strength of two Kevin Perkins touchdown runs. USM would outgain UNA 345–175 and emerge with a 24–13 win moving to 2–5 on the 2020 season.

From there it was all WKU as Ty Storey would throw two touchdown passes and the defense forced 3 Golden Eagle turnovers capped off by a DeAngelo Malone sack and score to give WKU a 28–7 lead in the fourth quarter. Excitement Level — 2
Last week was a punch in the gut as the last hope of a winning season died with FAU’s game-winning touchdown drive. Now we just get to watch an underachieving team play out the string in a weird season hoping we can find something that will help this team build towards a rebound next year. WKU should win against a Golden Eagles squad with a laundry list of problems of their own but even that can’t be taken for granted the way the Hilltoppers have performed in 2020. Let’s hope this is the start of a strong finish to help Helton and company regain some of the mojo that’s been lost over the past two months.
