Despite us not telling you about it, all season long we’ve been taking part in Miner Rush’s C-USA football power rankings, and this week (and every week after) we are going to share with you how we voted, and see how that compares to the official rankings.
So, without further adieu, here’s our official ballot:
Marshall — The Herd have been maybe the surprise out of the East this year, with their only loss coming on the road to a now Top 25 NC State team. While they didn’t blow Charlotte out of the water this past week, they got the win and that’s good enough.
UTSA — I thought the ‘Runners would be running the table this year, but alas, they fell in what might go down as the game of the CUSA year to Southern Miss.
North Texas — You know that high-powered offense we were waiting to see from the Tops? Apparently, North Texas is the offensive show to behold in the conference this year. They’ve yet to score less than 40 points in each of their three wins this year.
Southern Miss — The Golden Eagles pulled of the big upset over UTSA, which should give them some confidence moving forward.
WKU — The Tops are still in it in the East, which shows you how bad the East is.
FAU — It took a little bit for Kiffin’s offense to click, but the Owls are all of a sudden very, very dangerous, having scored 38 on MTSU and 58 on ODU.
UAB — They beat La Tech and that makes us smile.
La Tech — They lost to UAB by one point. Hurts, don’t it?
MTSU — You mean to tell me MTSU has failed to meet their high preseason expectations? Let me show you my shocked face.
ODU — The Monarchs on on a three-game losing streak and will face Marshall this week.
FIU — Getting obliterated by UCF to open the season is now a distant memory, but being unable to hang with MTSU is not.
Rice — Rice’s only win is against UTEP. That’s all you need to know.
UTEP — Maybe keeping it close with WKU is what will turn the season for the Miners.
Charlotte —Maybe they’ll hang with WKU like they did Marshall this week.
The Miner Rush poll drops on Tuesday, so we’ll update this with how that poll shook out.
That’s how we voted, how would you have voted? Did we give someone too much props? Did we not give someone enough? Let us know in a comment below, via Twitter at @TheTowelRackWKU or on our Facebook page.
