In what is an increasingly popular poll to run at the end of each week of college football action, ESPN is in on the “Bottom ##” action, having their version in the form of the 10 worst teams in college football after three weeks of the season.

And, believe it or not, the Hilltoppers weren’t included!
At least, not yet, although they’re very close, listed at the bottom as being on the “Waiting List” along with the likes of UConn, Rice, UNC, UMass, SMU, Oregon State and Purdue.
Oh, and each team is given some sort of cute, campy nickname (i.e., “Western Kentucky Hillstoppers,”) and it’s super annoying and not cute in any way.
So it looks like the good showing against Louisville, despite the loss, kept the Tops out of the worst of the worst!
However, WKU did make CBS’ Bottom 25, but that’s a bit of an expanded rankings and shouldn’t be that huge of a surprise.
What is the surprise is the Tops actually went up…down?…in the rankings, coming in at #18 last week and are now #12. I’d…I’d reverse that, but that’s just me.
In the Bottom 25 rankings, the CUSA is well represented; Rice, MTSU, ODU, UTEP and UTSA are all represented.
Yikes.
It could be worse though. Below are teams who are included in both rankings, so at least the Tops aren’t that bad?
Florida State
ODU
UTEP
UTSA
Miami (OH)
New Mexico State
San Jose State
CMU
