WKU Football: Mike White Named QB One For Season Opener Against Rice
Ladies and gentleman, we have ourselves a quarterback.
Ladies and gentleman, we have ourselves a quarterback.
White, who many fans thought would be named the starter (at least, to begin the season), is a redshirt junior who transferred to the Hill from South Florida (because we still just can’t escape the shadow of Willie T).
The Fort Lauderdale native made his debut with the Bulls in 2013, starting the final five games of the season and completed 93 passes for 1,083 yards for nine interceptions and three touchdowns. He then played in 11 games in 2014 and completed 122 throws for eight scores and seven picks.
As a starter in the green and white, White was 4–11.
In the official WKU release, it is stated that that both Drew Eckles and Tyler Ferguson “will be prepared for action,” and “could see time throughout the course of the season as well,” so take that for whatever you will.
I think White is a good choice here — I have been unable to see any of the fall practices or even the scrimmage from a couple of weeks ago, but from everything I can gather, White is the most experienced and most prepared to step in and as seamlessly as possible take over the offense.
We’ll have more on the decision later, but it’s now time for you to sound off — are you happy with White being named the starter? Does this change your view on the outcome of the season opener, or the season as a whole? Let us know in a comment below or on twitter @TheTowelRackWKU.
