Lost in the shuffle of the Mike White and Joel Iyiegbuniwe pre-draft hype (and even the hype surrounding Deon Yelder) are guys like Nacarius Fant, who just about any other year would be one of the top guys coming out of the Hill looking to make the jump to the NFL.
After racking up 1,273 career yards and six career receiving scores, Fant now looks to become the second member of the family to play in the NFL.
Apparently it’s a thing to do just straight Q&A’s with prospects (I saw Yelder do one that we’ll write up sooner rather than later, too) and NFLDraftDiamonds.com did just that with Fant.
Everything from sports he used to play to toughest player to play against to what pumps him up before a game to favorite superhero to favorite athlete to…well, you get the picture. Nothing super outrageous here.
There are a couple of answers I really like, however.
When asked about why he wears #1, he said,
In high school, I was #12, when I got to WKU Brandon Doughty had that number. When I made the decision to come to WKU, I asked if #1 was available. I felt that being the hometown kid, who else should wear #1 at WKU. I wanted to represent my state & the city of Bowling Green.
And, the three words he used to tell NFL teams what they’re getting with Fant,
Reliable, Mature, Savvy.
Something in me says I’ll be shocked if Fant gets drafted, but I’d love to be proven wrong. I think he’ll take the Bobby Rainey route, become an undrafted free agent and then make a squad from there.
Oh, one more answer I really like. When asked about what the best part of BGKY is?
You have such a great support system in Bowling Green. Everyone takes care of each other.
