It’s been a busy weekend on the recruiting trail for Mike Sanford and the #ThePursuit19. Prior to Sunday, six of the seven members of the class of 2019 had committed over the weekend (beginning Thursday) and on Sunday, the Tops got their eighth of the class and seventh of the weekned.
Lake Minneola, Florida’s Stephone Atkinson announced he’s committed to the Tops. Not given a grade by 247Sports, he’s listed at 6'3", 220 pounds and has offers from Northern Illinois, Tulane and UTSA.
As a defensive end, my man is super quick off the snap and has no problem handling the offensive lineman trying to stop him. He’s in the backfield before you know it and can move with ease.
He lists himself, as does 247, as an outside linebacker as well, but I don’t see that anywhere on his tape. Although he’s certainly quick enough to be one (I think), I think Sanford and Co. want to utilize him in the front four.
Atkinson joins Jordan Flack, Terrell Jennings, Daylen Powell, Mitchell Harralson, Clayton Bush, Joshua Black and Cory Munson in the 2019 recruiting class.
