WKU Football: Tops Pick Up Akron Transfer Wide Receiver Michael Mathison
After getting a commitment from a P5 transfer QB, Tops will get a new receiver for him to throw to
After WVU quarterback Jarret Doege announced he was coming to the Hill, another transfer announced they were coming to WKU; this time a transfer wide receiver from Akron.
Michael Mathison was listed a two star recruit out of high school in Covington, Georgia (according to 247Sports) as a member of the 2019 class when he committed to play for Akron.
Mathison played three seasons at Akron and had 31 receptions his freshman year. This last season, he had 56 receptions for over 700 yards and three touchdowns which was his best season yet.
Getting some more experience and depth at wide receiver is big with Jerreth Sterns declaring for the NFL Draft and Mitchell Tinsley transferring to Penn State. The coaching staff has really invested in the transfer portal and days like today show that their work in it has paid off.
