WKU Football: Tops Play Fifth Toughest Non-Con — Orlando Sentinel
With Saturday’s spring game *does math* just over three days away, it’s never too early to look ahead to next year on the gridiron, right?

Especially if you live in Florida, which two C-USA squads do and is home to the Orlando Sentinel, who ranked each C-USA non-conference schedule by difficulty.
The result? The Tops’ own the fifth-toughest.
We’ll let them explain, first.
The Hilltoppers make their first trip to Madison to take on the Badgers in the season-opener. The program is looking for its first-ever win over a Big Ten opponent (0–5) while looking to snap a 12-game winning streak by Wisconsin over nonconference foes. Western Kentucky travels to Louisville to take on the Cardinals and former coach Bobby Petrino, who coached WKU in 2013.
As we all know, WKU’s non-con slate sees games on the road at Wisconsin and Louisville, as well as Ball State, and a home match-up with Maine.

I’m going to level with you — we do a crap job at covering teams like the soccer team. They’re good people (especially…medium.com
The teams above WKU, according to the Sentinel, are FAU (@ Oklahoma, v. Air Force and Bethune-Cookman, @ UCF), MTSU (@ Vandy, v. UT-Martin, @ UGA, v. Kentucky), Louisiana Tech (@ South Al, v. Southern, @ LSU & Miss. State) and Marshall (@ Miami OH, v. EKU, @ South Carolina, v. NC State).
I buy FAU and MT having tougher non-conference schedules, you can convince me LSU and Mississippi State outweigh playing South Al and Southern, but you cannot sit here and tell me South Carolina and NC State equate to Wisconsin and Louisville, you just can’t do it (although, perhaps that Maine game is really dragging the Tops’ ranking in this way down).
The Sentinel’s full rankings are as follows:
FAU
MT
Louisiana Tech
Marshall
WKU
Rice (vs. Prarie View A&M & Houston, at Hawaii, Wake Forest & LSU)
UTSA (at Arizona State & Kansas State, vs. Baylor & Texas State)

UTEP (vs. Northern Arizona & New Mexico State, at UNLV & Tennessee)
FIU (at Indiana & Miami, vs. UMass & UAPB[???])

North Texas (vs. SMU & Incarnate Word, at Arkansas & Liberty)
