As the 2020 WKU Football season prepares for a start, three Hilltoppers have received some positive news after the league's 14 head coaches voted for the leagues preseason All-Conference USA team. Here are the players that received the honors:
Jordan Meredith
The Bowling Green Purple native & redshirt senior was selected to round out the offensive line for the conference honors. In 2019, Meredith received a PFF (Pro Football Focus) grade of 79.3, ranking him the fifth-highest among other offensive linemen in FBS. He was also the leader of the Tops line that earned the top pass block rating in the nation.
DeAngelo Malone
Malone was chosen with the ALL-CUSA nomination for being one of the top defensive linemen in the CUSA. He also has been getting some good recognition early as he was voted the 2020 Preseason Defensive Player of the Year for the conference. After bypassing the 2020 NFL Draft, his return for a Senior season will add fuel to the fire for another strong campaign behind the lines. The Atlanta native led the defense with 55 solo tackles in 2019, including 11.5 sacks.

John Haggerty
The Sydney, Australia native struck gold with his leg on the gridiron in his first season playing American football. His record-setting junior season was the catalyst in the CUSA choosing him for the First Team Special Teams list. He was also selected with honors of being the CUSA Preseason Special Teams Player of the Year.
He averaged 45.9 yards per punt and started all 13 games last season. That alone was ranked 13th in the FBS for punting efficiency.
We’re excited to see all of our Hilltoppers including our trio of preseason honors kick off the 2020 season in Louisville on September 12th.
