After a tumultuous offseason that was dominated by Covid-19 news that resulted in cancelations and the season constantly being up in the air. WKU Football has released its updated 2020 Football schedule
Here is the original schedule that was released back in January
As you can tell the following things have changed:
Seven conference games instead of eight (due to ODU canceling season), 11 total games instead of 12.
Chattanooga game moved from September 5th to October 24th
Indiana game canceled, Louisville game moved to September 12th
Old Dominion game canceled, trip to BYU added as replacement October 31st
Marshall game on October 10th is now homecoming
Conference USA elected to do an uneven conference schedule for the East and West divisions and kept the East schedules the same.
Overall there was nothing unexpected with today’s matchup as each development had been reported on along the way. This schedule is a great mix of exciting opponents (Louisville, BYU) and a challenging conference slate. Getting a break between Libery and Middle Tennessee should give the Hilltoppers some time to prepare for a daunting conference slate that includes three back to back to back rivals (MTSU, Marshall and UAB).
Having the mid season non conference break should also prepare the Toppers for the stretch run as they look to capture their first conference title since 2016. Let’s hope everything runs smoothly throughout the process and we get to see if this highly talented team lives up to its potential.
