2018 marks a milestone year for Hilltopper athletics, as the football and basketball teams will be celebrating their 100th year of competition this year. And, with that, comes fancy new logos!
They’re both very, very clean. They’re both very uniform to each other, which honestly made it a little tough for me to determine what differences there were between them at first, but I like the silhouettes they included in them. When used separately, that wont be a problem.
Also, is it just me or is the football logo much stronger than the basketball one? The hoops one seems almost faded to me.
The football logo was first used in a tweet sent yesterday (that I didn’t see until today, honestly) with a picture that I might honestly turn into a background on something. It’s damn good.
I said this on Twitter but I’ll say it again — it isn’t a 1-to-1 comparison, but it’s very similar to the Diddle Arena 50th anniversary logo from a few years back.
Without a doubt you’ll be seeing these two logos a lot — merch will be made (I have a shirt with that Diddle logo), it’ll for sure be a season-long decal on the football helmet, among other things and I’ll pay good money to bet it’ll be on both media guides this year.
But, again, it’s slick and…that’s basically it. It’s slick and a job well done.
