What to say about this one? Well, for starters, Charlotte is…not great. They enter tonight with a 5–10 record, have lost eight of their last 10 games, and are 1–3 to start C-USA play, including two straight losses to Rice and Marshall.
The 9ers do have a couple of scoring options in Jon Davis (14.3 points per game) and Andrien White (14.1 points per game), but not a ton behind that. White also leads the squad in rebounds, hauling in 5.1 boards a game.
I know I shouldn’t be thinking like this — but this should be a walk in the park for the Tops. Granted, Charlotte did keep it close with Marshall (they trailed the Herd by two at the half and lost 91–83) but I don’t think the Tops will have too much trouble with this one.
Having said that, I’ll be interested to see how Josh Anderson and especially Moustapha Diagne perform. Diagne looked like he wanted to make too much happen in his debut on Thursday (which, I honestly don’t blame him) and I’m looking forward to see what he can do in his second game.
As for Anderson, he didn’t have any points against ODU, and I’d like to see what he can do against a team that allows a ton of points (the 9ers defense is allowing 76.4 points a game).
On the scoreboard watching front, MT plays Southern Miss, so I’m expecting the day to end with a two-way tie at the top of the conference with a pair of 5–0 teams.
