Have I mentioned how much these non-midweek game weeks suck? Oh, I have? Well then. Guess we have to get creative with how to continue rolling with the fresh content on here.
So, lets run down things in notebook form, shall we?
White in Mobile
If you’ve been on Twitter at all in the past week, you’ve seen a ton of gushing over Mike White as we approach the Senior Bowl. Here’s just a short sample:
That was some of the hype around practice. Here’s what went down when he started meeting with teams.
And then, some practice film.
There’s a lot of buzz around White, and that’s a good thing. I think I underestimated his potential, as well. All of the Twitter draft experts I’ve seen seem to think he’s, at worst, a third round guy. Suppose we’ll see.
Better-late-than-never recruiting news
We mentioned in our recap last Wednesday against UAB that Charles Bassey was in attendance for the Tops’ victory.
The Tops also, reportedly, hosted four-star Kira Lewis on Saturday.
Unfortunately, I can’t find any news on either of them, so we’ll have to keep the stove luke warm with how WKU stands on both of their radars.
Everyone loves Topper baseball
Conference USA unveiled their preseason baseball poll yesterday and, for the Tops, it aint swell.
Yup. The Tops are projected to finish dead. stinkin’. last. And quite frankly, I’m not sure that’s low enough.
I hold a very different opinion than a couple of the other writers here — one in particular — as to what to consider a “successful” season for WKU baseball in 2018.
To me, winning 20–25 games, and finishing with a winning home record along with a .500 conference mark, will mean the program is heading in the right direction.
We’ll find out shortly what this team is going to be, and I’m excited for the baseball season to get here, I’m just not super thrilled about the prospect of another 19-win campaign.
I think that’ll about do it for this edition of our notebook. Short and sweet, this one was, but that’s okay.
