New WKU head coach Tyson Helton has his first non-JUCO commit for the class of 2019 as Ocoee, Florida wide receiver Jeremiah Fails has announced he’ll be coming to the Hill.
Fails is listed as 5'11", 180 pounds by 247Sports and held offers from WKU, Adams State, App State, Bethune-Cookman, UConn, FAMU, Georgia Southern, South Al, Southern Miss and Troy, among others.
Per Fail’s Hudl video, he caught 11 touchdowns and logged 1,087 receiving yards on 43 catches this year.
Fails is a quick guy, and he’s quicker with the ball in his hands than without it (although, that isn’t to say he’s devoid of speed on routes). Once he makes the catch, though, he turns onto a second level and is ready to get in a foot race into the end zone.
His tape shows a lot of screen and short-yardage passes, which would bode well in the Tops’ receiving corps to slot him in with some deeper threat guys. If they’re open downfield, great. If not, give Fails the ball and let him work.
Fails is the third commit to WKU for the 2019 class since Helton has been named head coach, joining JUCO cornerback Trae Meadows and JUCO defensive end Caleb Sampson.
By our count, this is the 16th commit the Hilltoppers have in the 2019 class, joining:
Dalvin Smith (WR)*
Ricky Barber (SDE)
Daylen Powell (OT)
Cory Munson (K)
Desmond Johnson (OLB)
Garrett Jennings (OT)
Travares Springer (CB)
Wes Dorsey (OT)
Jordan Flack (OG)
Clayton Bush (S)
Mitchell Harralson (LS)
Javion Posey (ATH)
Webb Bates (P)
Caleb Sampson (DE)
Trae Meadows (CB)
