On Wednesday, Georgia lineman Joshua Black announced that the Hilltoppers had made him an offer and he elected to accept, verbally, by committing to WKU.
According to Georgia-focused recruiting site Recruit Georgia, Black is an asset on the line on both sides of the ball, but they suspect he’ll get a crack on the OLine, first.
RG also has Black in their Elite 125 rankings for the 2019 class, listing him at #90 in the Peach State.
Checking in at 6'4", 270 pounds, I must admit that I like the idea of Black on the defensive line more than the offensive one, but then again, there’s a reason I’m not a college football coach.
There are two things that immediately jump out while watching his highlight tape — his strength and his speed. On defense, he’s in the backfield almost as soon as the ball is snapped, and can break away from an engaged lineman to make a tackle with relative ease.
On offense, he’s certainly strong and doesn’t shy away from chasing a defender down near the line or in the backfield, but he almost always had help from his tackle, so maybe Black can become something of a dynamic duo with whoever is his side’s tackle.
Regardless, ya’ll know me — I love any and all Georgia commits, and him coming from the metro-Atlanta area makes it even better.
Black joins South Warren’s Clayton Bush as the only other commit for the 2019 class.
