On Thursday, Rivals.com’s Corey Evans reported that Western Kentucky had offered 2020 prospect Che’ Evans, a 6'6", 195 pound small forward from Maryland.
Evans is a four-star prospect according to both Rivals and 247Sports, who holds offers from Boise State, Boston College, Florida, Georgetown, Ohio State, Texas Tech and UCLA, among other schools.
Rivals has Evans in their Top 80 overall prospects, at 78, but 247Sports has him barely inside their Top 140, at 135. However, 247 does have him as the 26th-best small forward option and the sixth best 2020 player out of Maryland.
Evans is long and lean and reminds me a bit of a more athletic Justin Johnson (senior year JJ, to be exact). He drives to the rim with ease, isn’t afraid to shoot the three and can work his way around defenders to get to the rim.
The Hilltoppers could be a long shot for his services — Rivals’ GatorsTerritory reported back in October of last year that he had released a Top 10, but that was before WKU offered their services. Rick Stansbury and company could make a late push for him but if Evans, as a junior, is already making a Top 10, he may want to decide sooner rather than later, leaving WKU in the dark.
Rivals has him predicted to Texas Tech while 247Sports’ crystal ball has no prediction.
The Hilltoppers currently do not have a commit in the 2020 class.
