On Sunday, Coahoma Community College defensive end Caleb Sampson announced he’d be joining new head coach Tyson Helton and the Hilltoppers for the 2019 class.
Sampson is a product of St. Rose, Louisiana and was a one-time Missouri commit (he actually enrolled at Mizzou in June of 2017) who chose WKU over UTSA, Nichols State and Eastern Illinois. He’s listed as 6'4", 270 by 247Sports.
Sampson is quick without being explosive and is quick on his feet, not allowing himself to be beat on a stutter step and is always with the defender. He’s also slippery when he wants to get through the line.
A couple of the biggest questions that arose after Helton was announced as head coach was 1.) how would he compare to Mike Sanford’s recruiting and 2.) will he be able to bring JUCO players into the fold to help fill plugs.
I like the addition of Sampson and can’t wait to see him cause havoc in C-USA next season.
Sampson is the 15th member of the 2019 signing class, presumably, joining;
