The Hilltoppers are still in the mix for a 6’4” shooting guard and native Kentuckian Sean McNeil, along with several power five schools.
McNeil is currently at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio where he’s been averaging an eye-popping 29.7 points per game (while almost shooting 50% from the floor and 43% from deep) making him one of the best scorers in all of the NJCAA.

McNeil played high school hoops at Cooper High School in Union, KY in 2017 and went to Bellarmine University after high school before deciding to go the JUCO route where he has absolutely dominated.
For WKU to be in the mix with all of these big schools is a great sign for coach Stansbury but one thing worth noting is the current scholarship situation.
As it stands right now, adding McNeil would put the Tops over the scholarship limit but we’ve all seen coach Stansbury still be able to work things out while still retaining his players on his roster so perhaps he can work that magic once again and beat out some other P5 teams to keep him in the Bluegrass State.
McNeil would be a huge get for the Tops because he’s a great shooter. One thing that was missing from this past season was consistent or multiple options when shooting the three so if coach Stansbury is able to bring McNeil to the Hill that would, in my opinion, be one of the biggest additions to help the team for next season.
Things can get crazy during the offseason so we’ll have to monitor everything and see if the Tops can bring in a much needed in-state scorer to the team.
Here are some of his highlights:
