2019 Franklin, KY guard Rared Josdeutscher may not be your typical recruit, but he’s one that has been flying under the radar locally in Simpson county.
Josdeutscher is listed at 5'4" and 132 lbs (although when we met him he looked at least a solid 5'5") with a 6'5 wingspan. We were unable to find any stats on him (he isn’t on Franklin-Simpson’s high school team or any recruiting sites) but he insists he can shoot over 50% from deep any given night. We were able to find some highlights of him here:
Although he has not been offered or even contacted by Western Kentucky (or any other college in Division 1, 2, 3, or even the NJCAA or NAIA) he is still hopeful of one day playing college basketball, specifically for WKU. We were able to catch up with him at a local event and asked him how his recruitment was going along.
The Towel Rack: So tell us why you think coach Rick Stansbury would want you on his team.
Rared Josdeutscher: I’m a pretty versatile guard. I can play and defend either the one or the two and even though I may be undersized, I can still hit contested jumpers. Coach if you’re reading this just give me a chance.
TTR: Why didn’t you play for your local high school or even a prep or AAU team?
RJ: I have nothing to prove at this level [of play]. I’m ready for some actual competition in college although I’ll still probably make all of the guards in the C-USA look silly with my sick crossovers.
TTR: How do you think you’d fit in with Stansbury’s system at WKU if given the chance?
RJ: I watched WKU play a lot this past season and its evident they need a consistent point guard, especially since Lamonte [Bearden] has graduated. With my three-point shooting abilities, I can provide the team with much needed consistency from deep every game.
TTR: If you could compare yourself to any basketball player pro or college level, who would you say you play like?
RJ: I’d say I’m a solid mix between Dirk Nowitzki and Doug McDermott.
TTR: Anything else you’d like to say?
RJ: Coach if you’re reading this please just give me a chance. I won’t let you down. I went 8-of-9 from deep with 24 points at a church lock-in once my freshman year against some other good players in my area. I promise I have what it takes.
We appreciate Rared taking some time out his busy day to answer some questions we had. Oh yeah, and we would also like to wish you all a wonderful April Fool’s Day! Parts or all of this article may or may not have been written by our Jared Rosdeutscher.
