Guard- 2020 Class
Florida SouthWestern (JUCO)
While not given a rating by 247Sports, Ellis has a bit of attention; Alabama & Iowa State have both offered him while MTSU and Fresno State have shown some interest in him.
Ellis is smooth with the rock in his hand and looks like he’d rather be playing on the And-1 circuit (is that still a thing) than in college ball, and I mean that in the best way possible. He hops and dinks and dips and dunks (boy does he dunk) when he’s anywhere near the rim, and he pulls of passes I’d only feel comfortable doing so in video games during actual competition.
He strikes me as a solid combo guard; a guy who can handle, shoot and be a floor general with both pace and emotional stability on the court.
In 31 games for the Bucs this year, Ellis has averaged 18.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and is shooting 53.6% from the floor, including a 40.1% clip from deep.
Rick Stansbury loves himself some flashy guards, this we know, but Ellis may just be the type of flashy guard who finds his way to the Hill and could make a nice piece around the rest of the roster. While WKU has several guard options for next season, we could definitely see Ellis finding a way into a rotation that loses Jared Savage and Cam Justice should he decide to bring his services to the Hill for the 2020–21 season. Stay tuned.
