WKU Recruiting: Offered — Nate McCollum

Long-time readers of The Towel Rack know that we are always trying to step our game up when it comes to our recruiting coverage. And, over the last year or so, I think we’ve done a fairly good job; we’ve got coverage on just about every basketball and football recruit and now and have had running live blogs on National Signing Day for two years now.
However, there’s always room to improve. We tried doing a near-daily Recruiting Roundup that was really popular, but kind of a hassle — it’s just very time consuming and it isn’t a consistent form of content. Some days, there just isn’t anything to post.
So, here we are, trying a new thing — will it work? Who knows. I know it will be very well read; if there’s one overall area that is lacking in the WKU media landscape, it’s recruiting coverage (pre-commitment), especially from free outlets.
This is a series that should be easy enough to do consistently, yet at the same time, informative enough that isn’t wasting your time. Welcome to offered.
On Thursday, Dutchtown High School (Hampton, Ga) wide receiver Nate McCollum announced he had been offered by the Hilltoppers.
Before we talk about McCollum, allow me to wax poetic about Dutchtown — it was the high school in the metro-Atlanta area I almost went to. In fact, if I hadn’t moved between my 8th and 9th grade years, I would have gone to Dutchtown. Some of my closest childhood friends went there, and I’m a proud product of Dutchdown Middle School.
Okay, now that the sappyness is out of the way…
Nate McCollum
5'10", 180 pounds
Wide Receiver
Dutchtown High School (Hampton, Ga.)
GHSA Region 4-AAAAA Offensive Player of the Year
Class of 2020
McCollum is a 2020 prospect that already has a fair amount of interest. According to 247Sports, he holds offers from App State, Coastal Carolina, Eastern Carolina, FAMU, Mercer and Tennessee.
My guy is fast. Like, blazing fast. Like…I audibly said “holy s*&^” when watching the first highlight that is on his junior season reel. But, he’s more than a screen-pass or a three-yards and in threat; he’s solid with the hands and is a threat on deep balls, too.
Per 247, WKU has no commits to the class of 2020 and has offered nine other wide receiving prospects.
