Nick Ongenda (in red wearing #30) is a four-star center who reclassified and signed with WKU in November. He is from Ontario, Canada and has been selected to play in the BioSteel All-Canadian Game.
In its fifth year, it is slowly starting to become the country’s smaller version of the McDonald’s All-American Game so this is a great opportunity for Ongenda to play against some of the best Canadian high school players. The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CST tonight on TSN.
If you have a somewhat good memory, you’ll remember hearing about this game before.
Last year, Canadian native and now freshman guard Dalano Banton played in the game and finished with 19 points, eight rebounds and three steals in a game that also featured Duke freshman star RJ Barrett so this game does feature some very high profile recruits.
I personally like seeing a recruiting pipeline to WKU from Canada and I’m excited to see how Ongenda does against some great competition tonight. We’ll have more details posted on how he does later tonight after the game.
