On Sunday, Que Reid was one of two players to announce he would be joining the Hilltoppers as part of the Tops’ 2018 recruiting class, and upon watching his Hudl highlights, I became very pleased.
It had appeared the Tops were getting a true power running back and a guy that defenders slipped off of and got to the end zone often. Only to have my excitement tempered when Reid reached out to say he’d be joining the Tops as a safety.
Not that that’s a bad thing. Once I saw his defensive tape, I was excited about the type of the defender the Tops were getting. But, was still confused as to why the desire to play safety at the next level.

“It was actually both of our (WKU and Reid’s) decision,” Reid said when he spoke with us via an email. “They said they needed a safety and they loved the way I played, and my size.”
At 5'10", 182, it’s hard not to like the potential as an addition to one of the Tops’ most consistently solid positions, as Reid follows in the footsteps of Andrew Jackson, Xavius Boyd, Cam Thomas, Joe Brown and Joel iyiegbuniwe, just to name a few.
The Tops started to court Reid over the summer, led by defensive coordinator Clayton White, and ever since he first stepped onto the Hill (as so many of us do), Reid decided WKU was the place for him.
As is the case with most of the prospects we’ve talked with, while they understand the Tops’ 6–6 campaign this past season isn’t what was expected, it hasn’t tempered their expectations.
“I know it wasn’t the season they wanted,” Reid said, “But they still had a great year and are progressing into a great program.”
Reid talks a big game, and his highlights help him back his words up, and he has a great chance to be a December snag when he signs with the Chrome Domes in a couple of weeks.
