WKU Recruiting: Six Topper Targets Crack ESPN300 Rankings
Earlier this week, the ESPN300 rankings were released, which ranks the top 300 high school football prospects in the country.
Earlier this week, the ESPN300 rankings were released, which ranks the top 300 high school football prospects in the country.
I did a very brief scan of the list and made a full out declaration, which turned out to be not the best move.
Turns out, that wasn’t entirely true! Someone hit me up to say that, in fact, there were some WKU targets on the list. They are, as follows:
Three-star duel-threat quarterback Peter Parrish from Phenix City, Alabama. WKU is one of about 20 schools who have sent him offers, and 247Sports says his interest in the Tops is “cool.” But, with Kevaris Thomas as part of the 2018 class, it isn’t a huge swing and a miss. 247Sports says the three schools in play for Parrish are Cincy, Mississippi St. and Virginia. Parrish is listed as #114 on the ESPN300.
Four-star duel-threat QB Lance Legendre came in at 131st on the list, but he committed to Kansas back in February. While as we know nothing is official until paper work is signed, I’m going to assume the Tops aren’t gonna sway him from the Jayhawks.
Defensive end Khris Bogle is listed at #144, and has drawn more interest than Parrish has. Again, 247Sports says he’s cool on the Tops, and is warm on Clemson, FSU and Miami.
Glasgow offensive tackle Tanner Bowles comes in at #217, but he committed to Alabama earlier this week after 247Sports crystal balled him to pick Kentucky.
Coming in at #247 on the list is Kalen DeLoach, who ESPN says has an offer from the Tops but 247Sports doesn’t. A four-star outside linebacker, the Tops have some stiff competition with Auburn, FSU, Clemson and LSU among the schools interested.
Riverdale,Georgia (where my father used to teach, actually) defensive end Dante Walker was on the list, which he is at #258, but neither 247Sports nor ESPN say he holds an offer. The source who gave me these names say otherwise, so I’ma trust that.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear any of the included targets have a ton of interest in the Tops, but it is nice to at least be playing with the big boys for some of the big boys.
