As most of us were catching some sun by the pool (or, in my case, on the beach) and about to stuff our face with hot dogs and hamburgers, three-star cornerback Travares Springer announced his commitment to WKU.
Springer announced he’d be making his decision on Wednesday earlier in the week, and the Tops beat out Middle Tennessee, Southern Miss, EKU, Liberty, Miami (OH) and Tennessee State for his services.
247Sports ranks Springer as the 60th best recruit in Tennessee.
As is the case with a number of the class of 2019 for WKU, Springer is one of the biggest guys on the field in his highlight video. His Hudl shows his receiving and defending highlights, and it appears you can learn more about his receiving ability than his defending. He isn’t super quick off the snap, but he is able to recover quickly and be in a position to make a play on the receiver.
When he’s making a play on the ball, he receives it well and doesn’t let go of the pigskin once he has it.
I believe the Tops will use him on the defensive side of the ball, but that remains to be seen.
Springer is the tenth member of the 2019 recruiting class, joining Jordan Flack, Terrell Jennings, Daylen Powell, Mitchell Harralson, Clayton Bush, Joshua Black, Cory Munson, Stephone Atkinson and Dylan Morton.
