Literally moments after the new WKU jerseys became public knowledge, the Tops got yet another commitment to their 2018 class, as Sanford & Co. continue to keep that southern pipeline strong.
Devin Bell is a 6'5", 235 pound defensive end from Goshen, Alabama (a city right outside of Troy) and is considered a three-star recruit by Rivals.
I’m nowhere close to any sort of recruiting expert or master scouter, but watching Bell’s Hudl tape has me super, super stoked for what he can bring to the Tops. First off, he’s a man among boys in football-crazy Alabama. He’s the biggest guy on the field and already looks like a college player.
He’s also explosive off the line — I don’t think he’s ever gotten in the three-point-stance either. Once the quarterback completes his drop-back, Bell’s a step or two in front of him ready to bring him down.
Also, he has a second-level of speed he can reach when needed. Like I said, I’m no expert, but this might be my favorite highlight reel I’ve seen of any defensive prospect of the 2018 class.
Accoring to 247Sports, Bell chose WKU over Purdue, Tulane, Southern Miss and Louisville. Take that, Brohm & Petrino.
With Bell’s commitment, the Tops remain the #1 recruiting class of 2018 in CUSA over UTSA according to 247/Scout while they are ranked #3 by Rivals, behind only Rice and the Roadrunners.
What do you think of Bell’s commitment to the Tops? Do you share my excitement for what he could bring to the front line on the defensive side of the ball? Let us know in a comment below, via Twitter at @TheTowelRackWKU or on our Facebook page.
