WKU Basketball: Tops Add First Commit to 2019 Hoops Class

Late Friday evening, the Hilltoppers got a commitment from Clinton County High School guard Jackson Harlan.
Harlan wasted no time committing to the Tops, as it was reported just a day before that the Tops had extended him a full offer, and WKU was Harlan’s first.
He piled up the accolades in the postseason in 2018, earning 1st Team All-Region and All-Tournament KHSAA A Team this year. He also avraged 27 points a game, and shot 38% from deep.
This is a situation that feels a lot like the Jake Ohmer signing — Stansbury liked what he saw in person in clutch moments and made him an offer. This makes things even more interesting with the speculation that Ohmer might not be around for 2018 (maybe it doesn’t. What do I know?)
The height is there; at 6'5", he basically towers over all of the high school competition you see on his highlight reel. Other than that, nothing really stands out; he has a smooth shooting stroke, I guess, and he’s a fine ball handler, but I wouldn’t necessarily say he has a quick step to the basket or is lethal from three or anything.
The Bowling Green Daily News’ Brad Stephens reported that Harlan had very nice WKU camp last week, which tells me Stansbury sees something he can mold to his system.
Let me be clear, I don’t dislike anything about Harlan’s game. I’m interested to see what Stans molds him into, because it could be one of a few things.
If Rivals and 247Sports are to be believed, Harlan is the Tops first commit of the 2019 hoops class.
