Moments before the Hilltoppers put the finishing touches on a win against EKU on the basketball floor, Mike Sanford and the Topper football program garnered their first post-regular season football commitment.
Class of 2018 cornerback Cardavion Myers from Piedmont, Alabama has announced his intentions to come Hillside.
Myers selected WKU over MTSU, Southern Miss, Troy and UAB, just to name a few.
Myers is a 6'0", 175 pound cornerback who also lists himself on his Hudl highlights page as a quarterback (but, from what I can garner, he QB’s from the Wildcat).
Speaking of Hudl, enjoy.
Defensively, he’s immediately two things — a “body” hawk (he isn’t around the ball a ton, but he gets to the receiver quickly) and he isn’t afraid to use his body (which I would say is a good thing, but also I understand there’s such a thing as being too physical. Something the Tops’ coaching staff will work with him, for sure).
Oh, also, he’s quick. He can run guys down from behind and doesn’t give up on a play. Hard not to love.
I’m not sure how many looks he’ll get offensively with the Tops, but on that side of the ball, nothing really extreme stands out.
247 rates him as a two-star prospect, and is the 58th-best CB in Dixie, according to the service.
By my count, Myers is the fifth defensive back commit for the 2018 class for the Tops, one that continues to impress as Sanford looks for some of the young guys to potentially make an early impact in his second season on the Hill.
