WKU Recruiting: Tops Land JUCO Defensive Line Commit
Dareon Goodrum tweeted Monday evening that he will be headed to The Hill.
Western Kentucky got some reinforcement on the defensive line Monday night, when Junior College prospect Dareon Goodrum announced his commitment to the Tops.
Goodrum announced he had received an offer from WKU on October 23 and had visited the Hill on November 7.
Checking in at 6’2”, 295 pounds, the Oconee County (Ga.) product recorded 37 solo tackles and three sacks this season for the East Central Warriors in Mississippi.
The first thing that jumps out of the film of Goodrum is his agility: He’s not necessarily explosive off the line, but once he has some room to work, he can get to wherever he needs to in the backfield, especially for someone with his measurements (he does not look nearly 300 pounds, in a good way).
He can shift directions well if he’s trying to follow multiple guys in the backfield and plays with a long reach as well, getting hands up for passes in an attempt to create traffic at the line.
According to 247Sports, Goodrum is the ninth commit for the Tops’ 2022 class, and is the fourth defensive player of the class (second on the defensive line).
247Sports has the Tops class ranked sixth in the conference, before Goodrum’s commitment.
