With round two of National Signing Day now less than 48 hours away, the Tops have been receiving verbal commitments left and right. On Monday night, they got a verbal from Anthony Spurlock of New Orleans.
Spurlock is listed as a 6'1", 160 pound receiver, and 247Sports has him as a three-star recruit. He chose WKU over Oregon State, Idaho, Jacksonville State and Nicholls State.
In watching his Hudl tape, nothing super stands out, but I don’t mean that in a bad way. His speed would be the one thing I note, as he’s consistently getting ahead of his defenders with ease and, if he’s running with the ball, he has a way of turning it to a second level to take it to the house.
All in all, he’ll be a fun addition to a receiving corps that has been nothing but fun to watch over the last half-decade.
Spurlock is the fourth receiver of the Tops’ 2018 recruiting class, and is one of two who haven’t signed NLI’s (Lee Graham).
