Today is the day! Bowling Green plays host to the Conference USA volleyball tournament, which serves-off at noon with the Lady Tops opening the tournament.
First off, here’s the full bracket:
Believe it or not, the Lady Toppers have a fairly difficult path to the championship round, and this is predicated on the fact that we’ll see a Tops/Rice semifinals. like WKU, Rice is Top 5, if not Top 3, in the whole league in most categories, both offensive and defensive.
As far as what WKU leads in:
Hitting Percentage (.341)
Opponents Assists (10.42 per set)
Opponent Kills (11.17 per set)
Opponent Digs (10.31 per set)
Basically, the Lady Tops put the ball in the right spot, and they make their opponents pay. WKU has the most lethal offense in the conference, and teams have a hard time scoring against the Lady Tops while also having difficulty keeping them off the scoreboard.
Before the Lady Tops can worry about Rice, they’ll open the tournament against UNC-Charlotte, who they swept in straight sets 25–15, 25–20, 25–20 back on September 24.
In that match, Rachel Anderson logged a career day, recording 20 kills and Jessica Lucas dished out 45 assists.
