Well, it appears the Lady Tops have caught a break in terms of their travel for the NCAA tournament, as they found out they’ll be heading to Lexington.
The full bracket can be seen below, and if the Lady Tops surpass Notre Dame, they get the #1 RPI squad in the nation in Kentucky, who also drew the #4 overall seed.
The Irish finished the year with a 22–9 record and went 11–8 in conference play. The Irish didn’t face a C-USA squad this year, and their lone non-conference loss was a 3–1 defeat to Ohio State (a team WKU defeated this year).
On the flip side, WKU has played two ACC schools — a season-opening 3–1 loss to Louisville and a straight-set victory over Pitt.
If the Lady Tops win, they’ll get the winner of the ETSU/Kentucky match in the second round.
It doesn’t appear North Texas got an at-large bid, so the Lady Tops are the lone C-USA representative in the tournament.
The Lady Tops and Irish will begin at 4 p.m. CT on Friday.
