Agree about Rawls freshman year. I thought we had a 30 minute player. Went to Georgia State stared off poorly got even worse and was buried down the depth chart. Let us hope he can return to his frosh game.
“Put up or shut up”? I’m glad the rest of the article was pretty good, with a few exceptions. Every year, you, and others, fill pages with YOUR expectations based on what you’ve read about these guys. Then things don’t go according to YOUR expectations and you blame Coach Stansbury.
Frampton off the bench? Maybe, but not a sure thing knowing his shooting ability and leading the team in charges taken, which means he does work hard at defense, which is not the same for Hamilton. Hamilton didn’t work on defense either. Nor Butz.
You think Allen is the answer? I hope he is, but he doesn’t play defense either. And before you say he’s a better shooter than Frampton, I’ll take Frampton’s attitude and hustle UNTIL Allen shows me more than he did at UK.
Quit building up crazy expectations then getting mad when they don’t come to the surface and blame it on Stansbury.
Let’s back the guys and see what happens. Let him coach and you write your articles, since you have no experience coaching at all.
Yes, Rick. Put up or shut up. It’s year 7. We ran a poll and over 2/3 of people say he should already be gone or this is the year he needs to do something. That’s before whatever happens this year.
There’s every reason to believe Frampton is coming off the bench. Intel says he’s looking for a 1 or 2 guard and he lands Lander. Intel says he’d like Luke off the bench (Josh’s role last year) and he gets Allen.
No one said “Allen is the answer”. But he’s a high level prospect that got washed away in a program that had overstocked talent. Allen singlehandedly kept UK in the games (and won the other) against Mississippi State his freshman year. That’s impressive.
Sorry that any expectations at all are “too much”.
Again, what does coaching experience have to do with understanding basic makeup of rosters? I don’t have to have coached high school girl’s basketball to know what the five positions are and who plays them. It means I can count.
Thanks for being a loyal reader. Your readership numbers count more because you coached basketball and we appreciate the boost.
Coaching experience has EVERYTHING to do with it and you have none. Why don’t you write about selling insurance or playing in the band….something you might be good at.
Wow, Matt. Be better? If ANYONE should be 'better' it should be you. Be better baout recognizing that these kids don't turn out to be as good as you, and others, build them up to be. Then you blame Stansbury for YOUR failures in realizing that other teams have good talent as well. Be better at selling insurance and possibly write articles about things you know something about. It's just a shame that you have to reply to me in an email when you could have easily contacted me on FB BEFORE you unfriended me for disagreeing with you. Matt, be better.
I'm going to take the high road, Rick. I have NEVER gotten personal with you, and I unfriended you because our conversations get toxic. So I unfriended you and blocked you because I was tired of the same conversation and having everything I ever said shut down because "experience". If you want to hold a grudge because I made a sensible move, I can live with that. Insult away, sir. I'm not worried about what you hurl at me. I've had Bobby Petrino scream in my face. You insulting me online afects me very minimally. I never took a shot at you and I refuse to. That's what I meant by "be better". I'm going to move on, and you can keep saying what you feel you need to. I'm sincerely not interested in continuing to have my opinion invalidated because I am somehow unqualified to speak on some thoughts backed up by layers of facts. Forgive me for thinking someone decades older than me could hold themselves to a higher standard. You know I know a lot about basketball and can talk about it in an intelligent way, and because you don't like my opinion, all you've got is to invalidate my credentials. God bless, Rick. I'll reemphasize: Be better.
Matt, the only thing 'toxic' in our conversations was your ineptitude in not understanding that I was speaking the truth and you are speaking in wannabe terms. I NEVER said anything hateful to you. I spoke the truth...over and over. I wish you well, because you need to get a life and writing TOXIC articles about WKU is NOT where your life is...or should be. Invalidate YOUR credentials?? Your opinion is not any better than anyone else's and you and I have opposite opinions. I love my Lord, Matt, so I don't have a problem with anything I have said. Now I'll 're-emphasize'... BE BETTER. You can't get worse...I hope.
They didn’t use him, really, either. All I know is what I saw at WKU. I didn’t watch him at all at GSU. But I know he was one of the best freshman guard prospects we had in several years and it was very frustrating to lose him. I think he would’ve at minimum been in the rotation here the whole time if he had just stayed.

Take care Matt. I know you mean well.

Rawls is being vastly overrated.
Look at last year Georgia State stats, especially the 3 ball %.

Good article. You are right on the spot. I hope Hamilton stays. It would be great news.
