One of the worst losses in recent memory. Whole new team. New coach. Blew a 23 point lead. NMSU didn’t have their best perimeter player. All the good will built up by Lutz with the secondary and tertiary fans goes out the window when you lose to teams like this. This is a poor loss for even a bad wku team. This is supposed to be a good one. Got to have better coaching and playing down the stretch. We have 5 assistants and I don’t know a one of them who played real meaningful Division 1 basketball. I get you want grinders but you need coaches who will sit there and tell a kid what to do on D and demand more out of them than these guys. Really bad effort in the 2nd half and this is about the 7th time this season. Tops have been lucky. Need to be better than this. This program has been to a final 4 and has been to multiple sweet 16s. So has VCU. They don’t have football we do. They’re viewed as a better program than we are. That’s shameful. Need guys who won’t lose to these piss poor programs on the road. I don’t see VCU dropping games yearly to Duquesne and Fordham. Be better.

There are a lot of things to complain about after this game and don't get me wrong here, I'm just as upset as everyone else, but sometimes things like this can be a good wake up call for not only our coaching staff, but our player too. We got up to a 23-point lead and started playing streetball. Throwing bad ally-oops, taking bad shots, and playing super soft on defense. A lot of the time, coaches will refrain from calling timeouts to get the players to figure it out and overcome it on their own but tonight, our players just didn't figure it out and it ultimately costed us the game. This is definitely the first bad coaching performance we've seen from Lutz and things like this are going to happen, whether we like it or not. We, as a fanbase, just have to keep supporting and cheering them on because this isn't going to happen every night. Lutz is a good coach and a really smart guy. I have full faith that he knows exactly what he did wrong and he's going to try his best to make sure something like this never happens again. We are a good team and Lutz is a good coach. We have to remember that this team is basically a whole new team as well, with a new coach and only four returners. After the great non-conference showing, everyone raised their standards for this team, which is absolutely fine, but we still need to remember the situation that we are in. I'm not trying to excuse this loss, by any means, but it's not the end of the world and we still have a great chance to achieve our goals of winning the conference and going dancing.
